Halloween in Summer?

So I was out trolling the local craft and party goods stores this weekend and I saw the strangest thing.  The Halloween goods are already starting to be displayed.  Let me make this clear, I LOVE Halloween.  But you see, I'm a seasonal kind of girl.  I try to follow the turn of the wheel and be in the moment (or at least appreciate the moment).  So you can see how this would kind of upset my balance a bit.

I'm trying to be in my Summer groove over here (which shouldn't be hard when it's 85 F at 7:30 in the morning) and suddenly I'm visually transported right into the middle of Fall.  I mean completely!  I can smell my Halloween candles and feel the giddy bubbling up from the tips of my toes.  Instead of looking at the brightly colored flowers and supplies, I find myself being drawn toward the pumpkins and deep purple flowers!  Bumble bees are replaced with bats, lanterns with cauldrons, swimming pools with mist covered fields.  What's a girl like me to do I ask you?

I guess for now I'll have to put blinders on when I go to the craft store and remember that it's still June, just the beginning of Summer.  Fall will be here soon enough, and with it Halloween.  But don't think for a second that those Halloween images have actually gone away...

I know the feeling..I don't really like summer at the best of times so to give me a choice to steep myself in fall instead is really hard to resist.

I agree, seeing things like that out of season can't be a bit disjointing. Though I do adore Halloween...

We're having a slightly worse problem over here. It actually feels like autumn! And it's not just because the weather is awful, we had a really strong wind storm a little while back just at the exact time the volcano in Iceland was playing up again, and it seems to have had quite a devastating effect on the trees. We're right up at the very north of Ireland and apart from the Alantic there's nothing between here and Iceland, so we got quite a lot of the volcanic ash in the air. And the super strong winds didn't help. Anyway, it seems to have killed A LOT (and I mean a lot) of the trees and all the leaves are falling off them already. They're lying crisp on the ground as if it was October. As I said, I love autumn but this is just wrong. It didn't happen anywhere else in the country, and we've had botany experts up from Dublin and London to examine it. It's all very scary, and I'm not sure what's going to happen the affected trees. Anyway, sorry for commenting hogging, you're post just got me thinking about this. Must do a blog post about it someday!

Well, I hope you're having a lovely day and have a great weekend,

I adore Halloween and admit that it is probably my favorite time of year but...I agree with you. I want to fully experience each season and be in the now. A little planning ahead is good, but to plan Halloween in June is a bit too early for me.
