Award Time

Wow, I can't believe an entire week has gone by since I last put up a post!  And to my complete surprise, I've been given a lovely award from Leeanna at Can We Have a New Witch Ours Melted.  BIG thanks and hugs!

How pretty is this award?  Now I know I'm supposed to share a few things about myself and pass this along to several other bloggers.  However, I'm going to have to wimp out on the specific passing of the award.  Instead I would like to invite any of my lovely followers and readers to step up and take this award if they would like it!

Here are a few things about me you may or may not know:

  • I work a full time Monday-Friday, 8-5 job (which is why I don't post every day)
  • I like to craft mixed media art in my spare time
  • I prefer orchids to roses every time
  • I like cheap wine but prefer imported beer over domestic
  • I would rather have Dunkin Donuts coffee than Starbucks coffee (but you can't beat Starbucks lattes and frappuccinos!)

There you go.  Thanks again Leeanna and I hope you're all having a wonderful week!

Winter Hibernation

I read a post yesterday by Danni over at The Whimsical Cottage about hibernating and I realized that's exactly what I've been doing lately!  Now that the whirlwind of Holidays is over and packed away, I find myself wanting to do nothing more than curl up in front of the TV whenever I'm home.  Even things I know I should be doing end up taking a back seat.  However, it is that time of year. Winter tends to be a bleak and dreary season outside which inevitably leads to a lot of couch time.  And, let's face it, the Holidays are exhausting!

So I say, while we wait for the return of the Sun at Imbolc, let's be lazy!  Revel in being unmotivated and just take it easy for a couple weeks.  Do only what must be done and enjoy a little relaxation.  The wheel will be turning again soon so, as much as possible, do what the current season dictates and hibernate!

Seasonal Transitions - from the Holidays to Winter

I planned to post this about a week ago, but better late than never.

If you haven't done it already, it's time to put away the Holiday decorations.  However, there are a few things that can make the transition into winter very nicely.  Because it's winter, try to use white and silver decorations around the house.  For instance, white flowers with leftover pine or cedar greenery and pine cones.  Or a jar filled with white and silver ornaments or snowflakes.  If you use twinkle or fairy lights around your home, put away the colored ones and string up the clear ones.  Don't forget to change out your candles to white ones too.

As far as scents go, I've found that to be a very personal choice.  But I like to use resinous scents during the winter like pine, frankincense, rosemary, and even mint.  Something that smells crisp.

If you live in the north and crave a bit of color this time of year, add more winter greens or consider blue.  As we get closer to Imbolc try adding some gold and Sun representations to your decor.  Maybe swap out any snowflakes for suns.  As always, use what you have as much as possible and when it comes time to change things around again, save your winter decorations to use again next year.  Just because you use the same items doesn't mean you have to display them in the same way, mix it up a bit each time!

Flu Season

I'm sorry I haven't been posting or commenting lately.  I have come down with this lovely flu that's been going around.  Nothing serious friends, I'll be back soon!
