Renewal

I don't know what it is, maybe it's simply the promise of Spring, but I'm ready for a complete refreshing of everything.  You know, clean the house, organize closets and drawers, update the wardrobe, buy new beauty products, get a hair cut, start a container garden...the whole shebang!  Is anyone else out there feeling like this?

You know, they say that every seven years your body completely renews itself on a cellular level.  Now I don't know if that's true (or who "they" are), but it is a 7th year for me this summer so maybe that has something to do with it.  Or maybe I'm just waking up from my hibernation and itching for Spring to finally arrive.  Either way, I see a cleaning frenzy and a shopping spree in my near future!

Oh, it's not just you. While we're in the midst of packing the disarray of the house has started to drive me crazy and to top it off, I was wanting for a bit of a trim and before I knew it had taken the scissors to my hair myself~! It seems I managed an ok job. :)

It's funny you write this because I trimmed my hair yesterday (Danni, hahaha!), opened all the windows (it was only in the thirties but I had to get this stale air out and fresh air in) re-arranged my son's room and playroom, organized some closets and cleaned my pretty little heart out. I've got more Spring cleaning on my list (ha ha ha Leeana) but I just felt like gettin' some done yesterday.

You've made me feel really guilty because my house is a mess, and a lot of other areas of my life at the minute too, and I really couldn't be bothered doing anything about it! Maybe it's because I'm just leaving a seventh year. Ot the fact that Spring is taking an eternity to reach us and I've just not got the bug yet.

By the way, I really hope that whole cellular regeneration thing is true or else I'm screwed. It was pretty much my excuse for everthing back when I was a teenager!

Ostara vs. Easter

Which do I celebrate?  I saw this type of question a lot around the Holidays last year.  Yule or Christmas, then of course there's the current holiday Ostara or Easter, and let's not leave out Samhain or Halloween.  You get the idea. My question is, why choose?  Very few of us grew up celebrating Yule, Ostara, Samhain or had any idea about the wheel of the year.  When we were kids Spring meant Easter eggs, chocolate bunnies, and lots of candy; Fall brought costumes, going out at night, and more candy; Winter was all about Christmas, Santa Claus, presents, and of course...candy.  There were family traditions that were followed year after year, passed down through the generations and some new ones thrown in occasionally.  These are the things that stuck with us as we became adults and started our own families.  So why should we turn our backs on all those good memories and traditions just because we've chosen a different path for ourselves? New Year's Eve Tradition

I'm not one for setting resolutions.  I have nothing against them mind you, but if I really want to do something I do it no matter what time of year it is.  Also, I think by making this list of new resolutions and "wiping the slate clean", we're missing out on something.  You don't really want to erase every aspect of this year, so instead I offer you a new way to look at the New Year.  Some of you may already do this. Every New Year's Eve I burn candles with intent.  My bayberry candle gets burned on Christmas Eve as it's tradition in my family.  Instead, I burn a white 7-day candle to clear out any negativity (white for purity) and I get a few small tapers representing the things I'd like to invite into my home this year.  Usually it's blue for health, orange (or yellow) for happiness, and green for abundance.  Health, wealth, and happiness...a time honored toast for the New Year.  But use whatever you want or need.  You know the d...
